3RD ANNUAL ASCASW HALL OF FAME BANQUET IS SET!
{NEWS RELEASE}----------The 3RD Annual Arkansas Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame Induction Banquet is set for Saturday, August 8th at the Student Center Ballroom on the Campus of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
Sportscaster Jim Elder and Sportswriter Harry King will be inducted. Jim Elder was the Voice of the Arkansas Travelers for over 30 Years. He was also the Football Statistican for the University of Arkansas and was Sports Director of the Arkansas Radio Network. Harry King, the Dean of Arkansas Sportswriters currently works for the Stephens Media Group and before that was the longtime Burean Chief in Little Rock for the Associated Press.
This year's Lifetime Achievement Award goes to John McDonnell, the retired Track and Field and Cross-Country Coach at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. At Arkansas, McDonnell won 42 National Championships, Unheard off in any sports this day and time.
The ASCASW Hall of Fame Service Award will be given to the Family of Bob Ralston, General Manager of the Bale Honda Service Department in Little Rock.
The 3rd Annual Arkansas Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame Banquet is scheduled for Saturday, August 8th at the Student Center Ballroom on the Campus of the University of Central Arkansas. The Dinner starts at 6pm with the Installation Banquet to start at 7pm. Tickets are $40.00 in advance and can be purchased from any Board Member.
